Our Story

Just a kilometre from the golden beaches of Hikkaduwa, a quiet little place where the world seems to slow down.

Our Story

Why Moksha

Moksha was created from a simple feeling: the feeling of wanting to escape for a while. To step away from busy days, stressful work, endless responsibilities and the noise of everyday life. To wake up without rushing. To breathe a little deeper. To remember how beautiful a simple day can be.

Moksha is a collection of just three private luxury villas, created to feel less like a hotel and more like your own little home in Sri Lanka. With only three villas, there is a natural sense of privacy and space, a place where you can close the door, leave the outside world behind, and simply enjoy being yourself.

For those carrying the pressure of a stressful working life, Moksha offers something precious: time. Time to rest. Time to think. Time to reconnect with yourself. Time to spend with someone you love.

Vision

Vision & Ambition

Our Vision

Moksha is more than a place to stay. It is a peaceful experience where guests can slow down, breathe, and feel truly at home, just moments from the beaches of Hikkaduwa.

Our Ambition

We bring together thoughtful design, privacy, wellness, and warm Sri Lankan hospitality to create a place to relax, meditate, and simply be. Our ambition is to become one of Sri Lanka’s finest spiritual tourism destinations, and for every guest to leave with a lighter heart and a deeper connection to this island.

The Property

The Villas

Each villa offers complete privacy and space of its own. There is no need to fill every moment here; sometimes, doing nothing is exactly what the heart needs.

This is a place for those entering a gentler chapter of life too, a peaceful retreat for people who value calm surroundings, privacy, and the freedom to enjoy each day at their own pace.

Location

The Sea, Close By

When you want the sea, it is only a short walk away. Leave the quiet calm of Moksha and follow the path towards the beach. Feel the sand beneath your feet, listen to the waves, swim in the warm tropical sea, and watch the sun disappear into the horizon.

Within a short walk, you can move from the peaceful world of Moksha to the endless blue of the Indian Ocean, and back again to the comfort of your own private villa.

Design

Architecture & Design

The architecture of Moksha carries the spirit of Sri Lanka. Inspired by traditional Sri Lankan colonial style, the villas use clay blocks, traditional clay roof tiles, and natural, eco-friendly materials. Earthy textures, warm tones and traditional details allow the buildings to belong naturally to their setting.

Modern luxury is gently woven into this traditional foundation.

Hospitality

Hospitality

Perhaps the most important part of Moksha cannot be built with bricks or designed by an architect. It is the feeling of being welcomed.

Sri Lankan hospitality has always been about warmth: a genuine smile, kindness without expectation, and making someone feel comfortable as though they have arrived at a friend’s home.

You may arrive as a traveller. But we hope that, little by little, you feel that you have found a small home in Sri Lanka.

Moksha

The Meaning of Moksha

The word Moksha carries a deeper meaning. It speaks of liberation: of letting go and finding freedom within yourself.

Leaving your busy work behind. Watching the sunset without checking the time. Sharing silence with someone you love. Giving yourself permission to slow down.

Moksha is not simply a place to stay. It is a place to pause from life for a moment, and return to yourself.
